4.0 stars"Great little prog :)"June 25, 2006 | By desirai Version: OpenCanvas 5.5.06ProsThis is a miniature photoshop. As an artist, I can tell you this is a great program to create paintings and CGs with, especially if you are unable to acquire photoshop, paintshop pro, painter, etc. :). It can be used just like high-end digital imaging products.ConsLoL the only part of this program that REALLY gets on my nerves, is when using the crop tool. It ALWAYS leaves extra space around the image after cropping!! Grrr. :PReply to this review

The brush engine is wonderful, creating smooth lines and really reacting well to tablet pressure. Although it may look confusing at first since it's so simple, it doesn't take long to figure it out. Once you do, you'll be glad of the simplicity.
For those learning to draw/color, the single most useful feature of oC is the event file. On the portalgraphics website, event files drawn by other artists are available for download, which is extremely helpful for learning new techniques.
The only thing I would complain about is it takes a bit of extra effort to resize pictures, select/move areas, and layers can't be grouped. These are pretty small issues though. oC is awesome.

Furthermore, it has the ability to view 'event files' uploaded by other users to view how they did their work. Portalgraphics.net also contains some tutorial to help you start through. A very nice program for coloring.

I use it on a regular basis, but can not afford to purchase it outright....prices are a bit much....but still cheaper than photoshop....at about $500....Reply to this review
