"Program gone poor, support even worse. Tricky licensing."

April 23, 2012  |   By wipa1

Version: Total Uninstall 6.0

Pros

The undo / backup option seems to work OK. Quite nice GUI.

Cons

WARNING!
Lousy and nosy support, rude attitude towards paying customers. Have purchased more than 60 shareware programs but was yet to meet as gruff author as this.

Program gone bad (used to be good).

Very odd licensing policy; licenses are tied down to the country where registration was made in the first place. You can't move to a foreign country, if you do, you have to report to the author, if you want to the program stay registered.

Quite greedy attitude as well if you compare prices to the development (program gone worse).

Program as well unregisters itself behind the firewall or if used offline, apparently some hidden checks are made and data sent to authors' servers.

Summary

This used to be a decent uninstaller but the more versions, it's worse version by version, like a downwards going spiral.

Currently its scans are extremely slow and it's analyzes not accurate at all. Considerably slower than it's competitors like Revo free and pro versions, plus the author has made it nearly malware-like with home calling routines masked as "update check". Up to version 6 you could block these with a firewall or disable the update checks, now the program unregisters itself and won't work.

I was a paying customer but my money seemed to be no good, a conclusion made from the rudeness and aggressive attitude of the author.

I was a long time too loyal customer (one license plus 2 upgrades paid), didn't even compare it to it's competitors. Stupid from me. Now i tried Revo Pro and it's much better in nearly every aspect. Saw a good deal at BitsDuJour of Revo, only 41 USD for 3 computers license. Luckily i didn't buy an upgrade to Total Uninstall, that would have been like paying for lousy and nosy support, more and more troubles with the program itself and simply paying for a deteriorated product.

"More Expensive than the System"

January 21, 2011  |   By 2_i

Version: Total Uninstall 5.9.2

Pros

Does decent job on functions in the standard version.

Cons

Functions of the Pro cannot be tried out. Cost astounding: $40 for Pro 1-computer license that expires after a year. Renewal currently costs $20.

Summary

Costs of TU kept current exceed costs of the operating system within which TU improves just one minor function.

"Best Uninstaller I've ever used."

December 28, 2010  |   By SamSym

Version: Total Uninstall 5.9

Pros

This is a perfect program for a person like me who likes to try lots of software. You can remove all of the registry entries and files that were installed. Even trial software can often be installed again.

Cons

The licence must be renewed yearly to obtain the latest updates. The updates are usually a major improvement too. Plus you have to purchase a "family licence - 3 computers" to use this on more than one computer. AVG reports a false virus.

Summary

I wouldn't want to be without this software. I've installed game software which is often supplied on DVD ROM discs, and once I've finished the game been able to totally remove it from my system. The speed of monitoring the install is impressive. I've tried other un-installer software, but this is the best so far.

"Got me out of trouble twice or was otherwise screwed."

September 30, 2010  |   By Portaspilli

Version: Total Uninstall 5.8

Pros

If you cannot remove corrupted programs via usual means. this program will just munch right past the problem and get all the way down to the root, and bye bye bad stuff, hello as if it was never there again! Genuis on the part of the makers. Nice.

Cons

Can't say a bad thing.

Summary

Being that I do occasionally goof up stuff and then get in a jam and end up with non functional programs, etc. I then need to figure out how to get myself outta the mess, and Total Uninstall has allowed me to totally clean up the bad files and start over. My latest jam has been with iTunes on my PC. Somehow it got messed up and my PC said iiTunes wasn't on my PC anymore but it was, I tried updates, reinstall's, etc, but none of that would work, said I had old stuff or couldn't locate program, etc. Add remove wouldn't work either. So I used the Total Uninstall, downloaded it, and ran in advanced mode: I took out itunes, Quick Time, Apple Software Updater, Apple mobile app. Bonjuour, Apple App Support and 2 Mobile Me's. But my itunes library is still alive. I can now just reload latest greatest available and should be hunky dorky!
This is my way of saying THANKS to Total Uninstall once again. The Ace in the Hole!

Version: Total Uninstall 5.8

Pros

Nothing at all

Cons

It is super slow and doesn't really remove (for example) TuneUp Utilities, although it claims to have a special procedure to do so.

"Use ZSOFT UNINSTALLER or REGSHOT (BOTH FREE)"

August 6, 2010  |   By RYAN2679

Version: Total Uninstall 5.8

Pros

Nothing at all.

Cons

The company and the product.

Summary

PRODUCT DOESN'T DO WHAT THEY CLAIM, AND THEY KNOW IT.

Every time someone posts lies about the effectiveness of this WORTHLESS PRODUCT or attacks me for posting the truth I WILL RESPOND. These LOSERS are LIARS and CHEATS and they routinely troll software forums leaving positive reviews and threaten litigation against anyone that leave negatives reviews.

INDISPUTABLE FACTS AND PROOF:

Does this program scan the entire registry? NO. It scans 2 out of 5 Registry Hives by default and another if you set it to do so, not to mention the MANY EXCLUDED KEYS. FACT.

PROOF:
In the options menu under Monitored Programs-Scanning Profiles-Default-Registry Tab you'll see only:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
HKEY_USERS

Open Microsoft Registry Editor and you'll clearly see that there are 5 registry hives:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
HKEY_USERS
HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG

Prior to version 5.x, were "MAJOR UPGRADES" Free? NO. Only until recently 5.x was the author forced to give people "One Free Year Maintenance Period". FACT. If you bought version 4.9.5 and version 5 came out a day later, you would have to buy the product again. FACT. Even they author eluded to that point on fileforum.

Are people THAT WORK for this company posting positive reviews and REMOVING USERS REVIEWS. YES. FACT.

PROOF:

¯¿½¯¿½, (Yes, that's his username) is someone so stupid and hypocritical that he didn't even bother to come up with a username, before questioning the intelligence of others.

PROOF: I DARE YOU!
If you don't believe me, find a program with a 30 trial period, install the product with Total Uninstall with before and after snapshots, wait a couple of days, uninstall the 30 trial program with Total Uninstall and then Re-Install the program. You'll find that you have 28 - 29 days left on your trial. If it removed all registry traces then the second time you install the trial program you would have 30 days left on your trial.
