"Ridiculously awesome, for programmers"

March 26, 2009  |   By jtjumper

Version: Aptana Studio 1.2.1

Pros

Javascript debugger
Built-in server allowing you to debug ajax
Built in preview
Eclipse-Based Interface (means it's familiar to programmers)
XML editing

Cons

Snippits could be a lot better if there were more of them to form a complete set
Takes a lot of memory
FTP upload is not easy to manage and making multiple ftp sites doesn't seem to work.
XML editing could be improved not very robust beyond basic xml

Summary

It's awesome. It's free. It's worth the use if you understand eclipse.

"i think it sucks!"

March 7, 2009  |   By seenetsux

Version: Aptana Studio 1.2.1

Pros

best thing about it is that it's free

Cons

it's bulky, over complicated. it makes alot of claims but there are much simpler programs that edit code without the big fancy interface. it's a big waste of time!!

"Fantastic tool for web development"

September 10, 2008  |   By mxadness

Version: Aptana Studio 1

Pros

It's easy to use, free and powerful. I primarily use it for HTML, CSS and JavaScript and couldn't be happier with it.

Cons

To be honest, the biggest thing that annoys me is the check for updates process. Whether you're getting updates for plug-ins or the main app. It seems a bit cumbersome.

Summary

It's a great tool for web developers and there is no need to spend the big bucks on Dreamweaver.

A true IDE. And Free!

Long live the open source community....!

Cons

so far no bugs or inconviniences...
