Applications of this type on the Windows world are more abundant and have more downloading and ripping abilities. Found myself using more Safari tricks to rip videos instead of Videobox.SummaryGood product for the money, wish it can rip more videos on various sites though.Reply to this review Was this review helpful? I was an early adopter, so I paid 2x the current price, just to endure repeated excuses about why it doesn't work for a multitude of sites I've reported back to them. Without this software, you can easily capture .FLV videos by opening the "TemporaryItems" folder -- if you know how to locate it -- then add the ".FLV" extension to the downloads before they have completely downloaded.
Most recently, I discovered that my Safari toolbar would frequently toggle to hidden when opening new windows... It took much extra sleuthing to identify & remove the source of this annoyance -- Videobox -- because because these developers are sneaky about names they chose for resources "SpiceRack" & creating an invisible registration file -- ".Videobox.talf"
As an early adopter, I expected that my $15 purchase was probably buying some wonky but promising software, which would improve with time. Sadly, instead of making it better, they've just made it cheaper...

The latest version of this program fixes one of the most annoying things about earlier versions. Command W. no longer quits the program without confirmation!
In previous versions, you would browse a bunch of videos in safari, then hit command W to close your current safari window only to realize that you were in video box instead of Safari! If you had added 15 videos to video box, the program would promptly quit without confirmation, forgetting all 15 videos you had added! Finally tasty apps has eliminated this brain dead feature, and now video box requires a confirmation before quitting.
Still, the program has bugs. Sometimes you may add a lot of videos, and if you don't download them right away, video box will refuse to do so. Other times, the program gives all videos the same name except for a number at the end, creating a jumble of downloaded videos that can't be distinguished from one another by file name.
On the plus side, the program does succeed in downloading videos from practically every video Site I've tried it on. If you want to download one or two videos, the program works well, but it does not always live up to its promise of downloading multiple videos at a time. In short, this program has a lot of bugs it need to be worked out before it can get a top review.

I also find the fact that it comes with a plugin for my browser to be a real plus. On top of the software working really well, the creator of Videobox is highly responsive and completely dedicated to giving only the best customer service. I recommend this fine piece of work wholeheartedly.Reply to this review Was this review helpful? I have used FLVR for over a year and it still amazes me how simple and efficient it is. Videobox only got simpler and better!! Thanks tastyapps.com for providing us with such a great applicationReply to this review Was this review helpful? I discovered the original FLVR App when I was searching for an application to convert some flash files that I wanted to add to a DVD project. I had literally tried dozens of applications and nothing would convert these particular files to the format I needed.
I was actually shocked when my first conversion attempt with FLVR downloaded the flash files from Youtube & converted them to quicktime files flawlessly. It did this in the background without the issues that I had encountered with every other converter.
Videobox is the latest incarnation of this amazing application. Like the original App, It still has a safari plugin that allows you to download, rename & convert right within the browser. But, it is also a stand alone converter with URL drag & drop functionality making it is the easiest & most reliable application for grabbing & converting web based video on the fly regardless of your browser. And because it is a stand alone application, you can also convert media that is not web based...e.g. a clip a friend sends you as an e-mail attachment.
The preferences allow you to customize quality of your output & supports mov, mpeg, mp4, raw, avi, wmv, and flv formats. There is also an automatic import into itunes function, which makes grabbing video from sites like youtube to watch later on your ipod seamless. You can grab, convert & add with a push of the button.
Videobox is a fast, flawless & customizable video converter that works every time. It not only converts media into the format you want, but does so with little or no loss of quality.
Download the Demo, give it a try and you will see that it is "Must Have" application for anyone who works with video or collects web based content.
