The Free 3GP Video Converter is for converting your video files into other formats to view on supported devices.

The steps for this application are very simple. You click Add Files, select a video to convert, select the quality and format to convert it to, and then select Convert. After that, all you have to do is be patient. You might be waiting a while. It took over 2 hours to convert a 15-minute video for the new iPad viewing format. The time will obviously vary, depending on the size, but that seemed like too long of a wait to us.

There aren't that many other features included. You can change the Output Name for the file, which is convenient, and you can also have your computer shut down after it's done converting by selecting that in Options. It would be very easy to just set this up to work and then walk away for the night without worrying about being there for the final step. There isn't a help page or any tutorials, but it's very simple to use.

Free 3GP Video Converter was easy to install. There were a few unwanted extra downloads that would be easy to overlook, but if you look through the steps carefully you can avoid accidentally getting those.

"It worked fine so far."

Summary

Just installed. 01/08/2014.
converted 3gpp (video) to mp3 (audio). Listened for a few seconds. Sounds good so far.

Used "direct download link" on CNET page rather than using the CNET's large green "Download Now" button.

Chose "custom" at each prompt during installation. Unchecked everything.

Running full virus scan now just to see. Will update.

Updated on Jan 16, 2014

After installation, ran Malware Malbyes. Found adware. Removed.
Looks like adware was included in .exe file. No way to avoid it.

"WARNING Installed Conduit Malware"

Cons

Installed the Conduit malware on my laptop. Kept getting container.dll errors. Malware/spyware programs do not find this problem. Had to download Microsoft Autoruns to help get rid of Conduit and all its start-up programs.

"It actually works!"

I'm not sure if the spyware concerns I've read here are an issue, but I can't imagine that anyone really cares what I'm doing. If they do, they must have a REALLY boring life.

Summary

After two bad experiences with half-baked crapware, I was actually shocked to find that this actually was able to convert an MTS file to an AVI without locking up and crashing my computer or producing an extremely poor quality output file like the other two programs did.

It's stable, extremely easy to use, and the quality of the AVI output file was identical to that of the MTS input fie.

WELL I DID READ A FEW REVIEWS AND ONE SAID BEWARE OF MALWARE. BUT I TOOK A CHANCE AND DOWNLOADED ANYWAY...DUH LOL. LUCKLY I SCAN THE SET-UP FILES BEFORE I DO AN INSTALL AND LOW AND BEHOLD MY VIRUS SCAN PICKED UP 'MULTIPLE THREATS'. NOT COOL AT ALL.

"Prefect to use instead of using an expensive software."

Takes all kind of file formats and convert it to 3gp. So whenever i need to upload a video on facebook i do it through my phone which is quicker than doing it from a laptop.
