"DON'T BUY THIS GARBAGE"

No net worth reports or customizable graphs. More timely to enter transactions. no calculators at the amount entry.

Summary

I have used Quicken in different versions since 1998 starting with quicken 6 for windows PC. This simp first time with Mac and quicken essentials is so bad that we are going to use our laptop (windows PC )with Quicken 2004 deluxe ( which is a free version on the intuit website)- if you like Quicken you will soon revert. I can't believe the editors would give this trashy, cheap program 3 stars.

Not user friendly. Not able to generate reports. Total waste of money.

Summary

Don't buy it. Seriously, who designed this and who thought it was ready to be marketed? Hopefully we will all get a free software update that works as well, if not better than, the PC version. Very frustrating.

No annual budgeting
No support
No way would I recommend wasting your money on this crappy product

NONE, worthless, useless product

Cons

After using Quicken for PC for 12years, bought a MAC and Quicken essentials. Only after I transferred all data over, did I find out that there are no :"real" budgets reports,and most importantly, NO ABILITY TO DO AN ANNUAL BUDGET!!!!!!!! It is a total waste of money! Only morons could have designed and put out this awful piece of trash!

A total RIP OFF. Intuit should be put out of business for selling this worthless product.

"70% functional. Which isn't enough"

Pros

Works mostly with my online accounts, including a few banks, my 401(k) and brokers, to download balances.

Simple to use. If you are looking for something that tells you what your account balance is like Mint

Reports are pretty easy to set up.

Cons

Can not put in an amortized loan. If you have a car loan, forget it. If you have a home loan, forget it.

Poor report writing. Very little control over reports

Summary

Using Mint is free, and about as functional. That it doesn't support the rudimentary capability of creating a loan (which it's Windows counterpart does fantastically) is another example of just abject laziness by Quicken. Which is why the CEO of Quicken was thrown off the board of Apple with Malice.

Intuit is a joke. It's painful to give this company money.

easy entry and easy reports. quicken used to be one of my favorite programs.

Cons

Won't download my accounts, when switching from old (!!!, they never upgraded for mac) quicken, it put in a bunch of phantom numbers. Therefore it wasn't my real data any more.

OS 10.7 compatible

Cons

Won't import files downloaded from my bank. The only Quicken option is to pay a monthly fee for direct-connect. I could pay $50 for a file conversion app but why pay for a separate app to make Quicken work?
I contacted customer service and received a reply that was clearly a mass reply file, despite the fact that it didn't answer or address my concerns.

Summary

Don't waste your money. Try another program. Intuit has no interest in treating Mac owners as well as Windows owners.

Cons

Very difficult to use and it took hours for my sister and I to figure out how to use Quicken Essentials. My sister has used Quicken for PC's for several years, and we thought it would only take a short time to download and add all of my financial information. What a nightmare! It took hours just to perform simple operations. When I purchased Quicken Essentials I was very disappointed in how may hours it took just to figure out how to use this version. Hate it. How did Intuit go from good to horrible. Looking for something new.

I have used Quicken for the Mac since it first came out. I used to recommend it to my clients however, I am sorry to say that this iteration is so oversimplified and so awkward I recommend clients NOT upgrade from previous Quicken products.

Summary

It is so sad that Quicken "dumbed" down Quicken for the Mac and made the interface anything but intuitive or helpful. As soon as I am finished with this year's taxes I am getting a new program.
