Web Snapper is an app and Safari plug-in that provides a fast and flexible way to capture screenshots of Web pages. The Mac OS provides some very limited screen-capture capabilities with Grab, but Web Snapper provides many more options (especially in terms of format, and in its easy-to-use integration with Safari), and it can capture multipage vector PDFs with actual text, links, and styling intact.

Web Snapper gives you a few different options for your interface, which will likely vary based on your workflow and browser preference. Using any browser, you can drag and drop URLs onto Web Snapper's main window, and from there you have a range of options open to you--letting you send Web pages to disk, email, or your printer, as PDFs or in several other formats (BMP, GIF, JP2, JPEG, PNG, and TIFF). In Safari, you can add a Web Snapper button to your toolbar, which lets you get pages to Web Snapper more quickly. Or, best of all, you can also print or auto-save directly from Safari, without even opening Web Snapper--which can be an extremely fast way to capture PDFs if you don't need to tinker with the settings for each individual capture.

While its easy enough for casual users (say, for example, for saving receipts), Web Snapper will be most useful for web designers and developers, with tons of thoughtful features such as the ability to use pagination, save multiple pages into one PDF, and even handle Web trickiness such as Flash and DHTML. If your workflow requires you to capture a lot web pages as PDFs, Web Snapper's strong feature set, refined interface, and responsive support make it a good value.

"Very simple interface and works as expected"

Have not noticed any yet, but haven't been using it for long

"An excellent website capture utility."

Pros

Easy to use, captures complete webpages without having to stitch them together. Saves in various formats that allows you to select and work with the text (even if saved as a PDF). This is essential for my work.

Cons

None that I've encountered so far. (Although there are some sites that it can't automatically load; you have to paste in the URL. But still...)

Summary

Highly recommended for a very specific task.

Preview > File > Take screen shot can screen capture a window, selection, or the entire screen no matter what apps are in use but. Web Snapper is a Safari Plug In so it can't do what

"Decent screen shot tool"

Has some cool features like capturing to a vector file.

Cons

Considering most of these features can be had for free from other apps, $15 seems pricey.

Summary

Could be worth yoru while, but I would check out Aviary, Awesome screenshot, or just use the built in features of teh OS.

"Works for me!"

I bought the latest version of Websnapper and find that it works perfectly - ZERO problems.
I have latest version of Safari and am on 10.5.6.
Besides the fact that Websnapper works consistently well for me, I really like being able to save my web page in different formats. Plus just having this ability "at the click of a button" really works for me. When I needed to contact the creator, I found him completely responsive and helpful - even more than that actually...a real person who didn't just fire back a geeky one line reply. Frankly...I recommend WS wholeheartedly.
P.S. The ONLY reason I gave it a 4 on features was because ultimately I wish that I could access WS's function using a keystroke instead of having to go to my trackball.

Ever since Web Snapper was updated in the spring to work with Leopard, I've once again been super happy with it. I've been able to snap PDFs of pages on secure sites - all info intact - and the results have been consistently good (i.e. rendered as good as or better than print to PDF and all on one page that I determine).

My only wish is that web snapper would work with FireFox the way it works with Safari. There are a few sites at which I make purchases that Safari doesn't play well. For these, I'm stuck using FireFox and have no snazzy page snap. I print to PDF (saved to Yojimbo) but yearn for my one-page Web Snapper shot.

For those of us who have to archive web work for "posterity" and "award shows" then Web Snapper PDF is a real breakthrough because the printout (of text) is perfect and there are no page breaks - this is truly great because the people who receive these archives generally don't know how to unzip a folder and click the .HTML file within :-)

Thanks to the Web Snapper team for a great product. I was and continue to be a VERY HAPPY user...
