Downloading YouTube videos has become so popular that premium utilities with extra features and improved performance are starting to displace primitive, ad-linked freeware among frequent YouTube users. YouTube Video Downloader is shareware that's free to use for 30 days, which ought to be enough time to determine if the program is worth paying for. The Convert to Format list is especially long and contains individual selections for Video, Audio, and Device. We could also set video output quality to HD 720p and 1080p as well as PowerPoint, Yahoo, Custom, and Auto output settings.

YouTube Video Downloader worked well. Clicking Paste URL pasted Clipboard data into the program's queue; each item had an individual Browse link, too. What sets this program apart from the free tools is its easy conversion and output options, its HD capability, and its support; best of all, it's not ad-linked, so it can download videos from tons of sites, not just YouTube.

"Efficient, Easy, Worth the price"

Pros

Very intuitive interface. Works flawlessly. It's reasonably priced, can queue a ton of URLs, has a nice conversion app included, and allows me to select the format for saving. I found nothing buggy about the performance.
The trial version particularly impressed the devil out of me: It gives full-featured performance for more downloads and more time than I would have expected from software of this sort. No spammy nag screen, no pop-ups, nothing to distract or make me think the app is snake oil. You know precisely what you're getting from the trial, and you can really give it rigorous workout.
Delightfully surprised to find the license is one-user-on-three boxes. Registration code was in my mailbox almost immediately.

Cons

Help is very spare, and generally that's ok -- the interface for the most part is *that* intuitive. That said, there's a few control ambiguities which could/should be included in Help. Settings, for example, has a checkbox for saving/not saving URL history. Yes? And? What does *that do? Where is it stored? How is it retrieved?

Summary

Easily the most satisfying software purchase I've made in a couple of years. I can't say "I've tested them all" because, frankly, it's the only one I tried -- Simply stated, I saw no particular reason to search further. Sorta like going into a bar to pick up a girl, and not needing to get past the entrance because the first one you see meets all your fantasies -- and later in the back seat, she's exactly what you'd hoped.

"Fabulous Program Works like it says it will and more!!!"

Love music? too cheap (or broke) to buy all that music? I was using AVC for my youtube downloading.But it would fail analyzing 3/5 times. This program is massively better, I haven't seen one fail yet and I've downloaded over 300 videos already and I've had this for like 1.5 days. My little brother loves music and gaming...for years he's been killing my badwidth with his youtube "background music" I came across this and was like..yay I put the URL of his playlist in the program and bang...a couple hours later I had all 3 of his playlists downloaded and converted to MP3's with just x3 copy+paste...no more killing my bandwidth.Lots of file conversion types video and audio, select custom output paths, including network sambas and NAS's for massive music/video storage.I particularly like the fact that I can have multiple windows of the program open for multi-download tasking.It even comes with Chrome extension.

Cons

the program may be able to do 500x more download speed...but my ISP is still only 2mb download rates so if I'm like most people, it's not really a needed option..unless you have free google fiber or something srsly. It doesn't have any kind of video editting, special download qualities like merging//joing multiple files together like AVC has. I also wish that when clicking the extension in Chrome that it would paste the new URL into a currently open program instead of opening a whole new program. Also there are two buttons "Paste URL" and "Add URL" really no difference between the two buttons unless you make the "add url" be able to open a small window where you can paste multiple. You can paste playlist URLs with the "Paste URL" button. I guess I don't understand one vs the other.

Summary

All in all I would highly recommend this program to anyone if you are part of the 1 billion viewers a month***https://www.youtube.com/yt/press/statistics.html*** This program was made for everyone. Efficient, and lovable! Thanks Tomabo!!

Haven't found any. (There was a small glitch when, after I had downloaded the first video and then tried to download a second one, I got an on-screen message saying my trial period had expired, even though I had only downloaded the program the same day. However, I closed the program and opened it again, and it has worked fine ever since. I'm only including this comment in case anyone else runs into the same issue.)

Summary

Having read a lot of negative user reviews about other download managers, some of which apparently include trojans and other malware, I decided to give this one a go and I'm very glad I did - it's a really excellent little program with a simple but highly functional user interface. I found it very easy to schedule downloads, which were fast and carried on in the background without interfering with or slowing down my work.
Installation was quick and clean, with no unwanted toolbars sneaking in and no hi-jacking of search engine defaults etc., as reported with certain other programs. You can choose the download quality from a range of settings, or simply select "Highest available". You can choose what happens if you try to download a file that already exists: receive a warning message so that you can take action; download with a different file name; overwrite the existing file, or cancel the download. Other features include extensions for IE, Firefox and Chrome - e.g. you can have a "download" button on your browser toolbar.
I used this program successfully to download crucial videos from my own YouTube channel, to which I had lost access through an oversight. The job was completely straightforward and surprisingly quick, using the "Accelerate downloads" setting, which I think is the default. I would recommend this program without hesitation.

"this software is magic"

Pros

This is amazing, i've used YouTube Video Downloader for several months. I'd give it a five star rating for ease of use and end result. After downloading one or two videos, the process is intuitive and flawless. The video quality is excellent and the ability to assign video types allows me to designate the video for what works best on specific media devices. The related software, MP4 converter, is equally excellent.

None that are worth mentioning, very complete program.

Summary

I have tried them all. Some work great for a while but then stop working, others do not download the file type that I want or the highest quality. Especially in Chrome, which is my browser of choice. Just three button clicks and the video is on its way!
