"Nice but expensive"

Very nice little application that could be extended by adding more features to it. My only problem is that its shareware price is way to high. 10 euros would be ok but 20 euros is definitely too high for what it does.

I also agree that this application is well done. It does what it says and looks good doing it. I've been using it for over a year now and haven't had any problems. It provides useful insight into the power usage of my PowerBook, and now that Sleep Monitor is Universal, I can take it with me when I move to a new MacBook Pro.

Pros

- Logs to GUI and Windows Event Log/Syslog server
- Send SNMP traps/SMS messages/E-Mails
- Prompts you with sound/popups/modal dialogs
- Can invoke programs on failure
- View logs over the web!
- EXTREMELY intuitive interface!
- HIGHLY configurable!

Cons

- upon shutting down a monitor detail window and reopening, success message text is being erased (but success events remain)
- upon closing the main window (leaving the system tray loaded) and reopening, monitor detail window(s) have to be reopened..

Summary

I have only evaluated this program for about an hour. There could be other unpleasant surprises, but overall, given the problems i've been having with mail.com's imap service, this program will be the smoking gun generator i've been looking for. beyond that, i could use this program in an infinite number of other scenarios to keep tabs on ALL SORTS of internet protocols on the internet.

if they can fix those nuisance issues i'm getting in version 10.0.0.41, i will have NO PROBLEM paying the asking price for this wonderfully designed software.

did i say this thing is HIGHLY configurable? i can't believe how much control i can have over the monitoring tasks i created. i love that i can poll in seconds, minutes, hours, etc, and that you can have a long polling time between successes, but on fail, you switch to a separate polling cycle!!! THAT'S SO MONEY!!!!

"Simple tool to monitor network servers and applications"

Pros

Supports many types of monitors and includes hierarchy support, for example when a ping monitor fails, dependent monitors can be disabled limiting notifications.

Cons

Needs more icons to differenciate monitor types

Summary

Simple tool to monitor 100s of servers and all the network applications such as web, mail, ftp and databases they run.
