"Nice but expensive"

Very nice little application that could be extended by adding more features to it. My only problem is that its shareware price is way to high. 10 euros would be ok but 20 euros is definitely too high for what it does.

I also agree that this application is well done. It does what it says and looks good doing it. I've been using it for over a year now and haven't had any problems. It provides useful insight into the power usage of my PowerBook, and now that Sleep Monitor is Universal, I can take it with me when I move to a new MacBook Pro.

Don't Sleep

It happens periodically that our computer shuts down, restarts, or hibernates when we really don't want it to. It's true that we could adjust the settings for these actions, but we don't always think to do that. Don't Sleep is a simple utility that blocks computers from performing these and other actions. It really doesn't do anything that you can't do on your own in Windows, but it is handy to have all of these controls in one easy-to-access interface.

The program's design is utilitarian, just a small gray rectangle with a few check boxes and drop-down menus. Users can choose to block shutdown, hibernation, log-off, and screensaver activation. An optional timer lets users choose when they want to exit Don't Sleep, and the program can simply stop running or stop running and shut down or hibernate the computer. Users can also select a time for the program to start running, anywhere from 5 minutes to 48 hours in the future. A menu gives users access to several Windows utilities, including the Task Manager, System Properties, Power Option Properties, and Display Properties. There's no Help file, and although Don't Sleep isn't really difficult to figure out, it does assume some level of familiarity with its subject manner. Overall, Don't Sleep didn't wow us--much of what it does can be done within Windows without a separate application--but the program works just fine. Users who often need to block or schedule computer shutdowns should find that it meets their needs.

Don't Sleep comes as a ZIP file. It's accessible after extraction with no need for installation. We recommend this program to all users.

Don't Sleep is a small portable program to avoid system shutdown, Standby, Hibernate, and different power options, especially when old Programs run on Windows-7 or Windows Vista. Here are more aggressive power-saving features with new rules. But not only that, it also prevents log in off the computer, and the deactivation of the monitor or activation of the screen saver.

What's new in this version: Version 2.88 has advanced verification and testing for Win-8 on Windows 8 Enterprise and updated of the language files in Don't Sleep.
